Atomic Spa Suisse at the Boscolo Exedra Hotel
As the largest spa and wellness center in the city, and the only one open until midnight, the five-star Milan Atomic Spa is known as much for its avant-garde architecture as it is for its exceptional beauty and relaxation services.
Situated within the luxurious Boscolo Exedra Hotel in Milan, Atomic Spa Suisse features modern and distinct architectural elements, transporting visitors to a mirror-domed and white-walled vision of the future. Designed by Italian architect Simone Micheli to be a world of luxury relaxation, ergonomics and mood lighting have a large influence on the layout of the space.
Futuristic with a slight ‘60s mod feel, a recurring feature is chrome-covered domes of varying sizes peering from the curvilinear white walls and ceilings, creating the appearance of champagne bubbles clinging to the sides of the glass. These mirrored plastic half-spheres run from the reception through to the pool and into the treatment rooms.
Nary a straight edge in sight (except for the edges of glass walls—take care not to walk into them), several large, sinuous extensions protrude from the walls to add interest to the poolside space. Cave-like, the poolroom is illuminated through LED lights and reflections off the ever-present silvery bubbles. Contoured reclining beds, designed to fit the curves of the body, continue the ergonomic theme.
Color-changing LED lighting and the occasional graphic element glass break-up the snowy color scheme. Lit up from behind and from within, the curvaceous reception desk porthole has one of the few pops of color in the predominantly white spa. Showerheads are studded with LEDs—with blue for cold water and red for warm. A mere change in the lighting can move the mood from calm to energizing; these LED lights are scattered throughout the spa as part of their chromatherapy program. Overall, the lighting is kept low, reinforcing the cocoon-like feeling.
Space-age décor is combined with centuries of tradition and quality materials as pink Italian limestone makes an appearance as flooring; a white pearl mosaic lines the interior of the Turkish bath and of the swimming pool.
Services Atomic Spa Suisse’s eye-popping treatment architecture is more than just a visual treat—they set the ambiance for services provided by the spa.
The Spa’s beauty services can be divided into four major areas:
- Modern: includes the latest-generation beauty products and machines (photofacials and Ultrasonic cellulite treatments) - Natural: includes products that would appeal to the gourmand with a chocolate, green tea, and grape themed therapy or the naturalist with algae and mud - Relaxation: includes the sauna, hammam, and herbal tea bar - Basics: such as manicure, pedicure, waxing and hair services
A full sensory experience, the Atomic Spa Suisse in Milan is a must-see stop for weary travelers and design enthusiasts alike.
